Department of Food Science and Biotechnology Food Enzymology for Carbohydrate Materials *Development of robust and valuable bacteria and enzymes by gene manipulation.
*Improvement of enzyme reaction efficiency.
*Studying for food application by carbo-active enzymes.
*Expert in enzyme immobilization is highly preferable.
*Ph.D. degree required.
Functional foods *Development of functional ingredient and evaluation of bioefficacy.
*Ph.D. degree required.
Department of Bioindustry and Bioresource Engineering A field of physiology and breeding in vegetable crops *Ph.D. degree holders in related fields.
*Candidates who hold the rights of Plant Variety Protection in vegetable.
*Candidates who receive 150 million won (about $140,000) or more in research funds are highly preferred.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering The Fourth Industrial Revolution related field (give preference to Big Data, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things(IOT), Artificial Intelligence field) *Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science.
Department of Computer and Information Security Blockchain Security *Ph.D. degree required.
AI Security
Department of Software All Areas of Computer Engineering, All Areas of Computer Science *Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science.

Qualification

  • 1) A doctoral degree in the application field
  • 2) Ability to deliver lectures in English

Employment Start Date

Fall semester of 2018 (beginning Sep. 1st, 2018 for a renewable contract term of two years)

Salary and Incentive

  • 1) 37,000,000 KRW /per year
  • 2) Incentive will be provided for paper publications and research grants award.

For re-appointment, one of the two conditions must be met as below.

    • ▶ Journal Criteria
      The rank of the SCI-grade( SSCI, A&HCI, SCI and SCIE) journals must be within the top 50% based on impact factor.The most advantageous IF shall be applied among the values calculated at the time of submission, acceptance, publishing and re-appointment evaluation.
      Also, at least 50% of the number of papers must be published as a lead author (The Author Criteria below).
    • ▶ Author Criteria
      It will be recognized as the lead author when only one Sejong-affiliated faculty member participated as the first author or corresponding author, and if there are two or more Sejong-affiliated faculty members participated, they will be recognized as the table below.
  • II. Only for the first re-appointment evaluation, the accepted papers can be considered as the required papers in requirement I. However, in this case, the most advantageous IF shall be applied among the values calculated at the time of submission, acceptance, and re-appointment evaluation. Also, the accepted papers used already in the first re-appointment evaluation shall be excluded from the next re-appointment evaluation regardless of the date of publication. In order to be approved for accepted papers, an official document certifying the approval of publication must be submitted.
  • III. Research funds
    As a large-scale research project director, the amount of research funds should be more than KRW 300 million per year or KRW 150 million per year.

Candidate Review Process

Successful candidates will be contacted at each stage of the review process via e-mail.

Applications submitted without all the required documents shall be rejected.

The candidate may submit documents in either English or Korean.

STEP 1Review of Application Documents

Candidates may apply to only one field.

Candidates complete the application, research publications list, research plan, and self-introduction form.

STEP 2In-depth Evaluation

The review board requires a copy of the candidate’s original diploma and one sealed transcript for each academic degree awarded, including but not limited to bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees.

In addition, the review board requires proof of current employment, which must correspond to the candidate’s application form, as well as the candidate’s most recent research thesis and materials, covering five years since March 2013.

STEP 3Candidate Presentation and Departmental Evaluation

The review board evaluates the candidate’s lecturing capabilities and potential for future research.

STEP 4Candidate Interview

STEP 5Selection of Successful Candidates

The review board selects candidates based on scores received in steps 1-4.

Scoring criteria and procedures may vary according to department.

Important Notes

Only those who passed STEP 2(In-depth evaluation) are required to have two letters of recommendation submitted to the department chair via e-mail.

Any of the submitted materials’ inauthenticity will result in the immediate disqualification of the applicant.

Certificates from non-English-speaking institutions must be submitted with English/Korean translations of the original text. Translated papers should include names and signatures of the translators.

Positions will not be filled if there are no successful candidates.
